My Inquiry:
The main question I am trying to answer through this project is: How can I become a better writer as I practice, and what is the process to get published? My big goal here is to finish writing the novel I have been working on for the past year and maybe even start looking into publishing it. Being an author and getting published traditionally has been my dream for a long time now, and I really want to work towards getting there. I think I can do it if I just put the work in, which I will! At the beginning of a year, we learned about portrait of a learner, which each project is basically centered around. My project fits all six skills! To be a writer, I will have to be a mindful learner (be willing to learn and figuring out my strengths and weaknesses), an effective communicator (this has to do with agents and publishers, because I will have to communicate with a lot of people), a global citizen (I will accept others and learn more about them. This is especially important for authors because we want to include representation but it might not be a culture or something we know a lot about. This involves research and listening to people of those minorities!), a skillful collaborator (I will have to work well with others for publishing and editing), an inspired innovator (I will run into a lot of challenges, and I have to be able to find ways around those), and a solution seeker (things will be tough while I’m going through this process, and I have to find ways to get through the rough patches!). Some other skills I’ll need are self-management, working hard, motivation, communication, and understanding people.
